Ichinomiya Nukisaki Shrine is one of the most well-known shrines in Gunma and arguably one of the most unique. The history of the shrine dates back over 1,400 years ago and the current buildings were built over 450 years ago during the Tokugawa era. Rich in history, the shrine also features a distinctive architectural design with a long stone staircase descending from the main entrance gate to the shrine’s inner buildings. Guests who visit the shrine can enjoy the beautiful and historical view of Ichinomiya Nukisaki shrine as they walk down the ancient stone steps into the shrine’s inner area.

Early spring is an especially great time to visit in order to see the cherry blossom trees that line the road leading up to the shrine in full bloom.

Access: 12 min walk from Joshu-Ichinomiya Station (Joshin Dentetsu Line)
